KidoCode is invited to teach TinkerCAD to UCSI University students interested in crafts design and realization. Students created their own 3d model with the guide from the instructor and were then given the opportunity to have their designed 3d printed.

Engineering Ethics

A technical talk on Engineering Ethics was organized by UCSI MINDS Student Chapter and IEEE RAS MALAYSIA. The guest speaker Dr. Mastaneh Mokayef has created awareness among engineering students about the importance of ethics in engineering practices and provided them with practical insights into how ethical dilemmas can be resolved. During her presentation, Dr. Mokayef emphasized the importance of ethics in engineering practices and its impact on society. She highlighted several case studies where engineers had made unethical decisions that resulted in catastrophic consequences. Dr. Mokayef also discussed the various ethical theories and principles that guide ethical decision-making in engineering practices. The virtual format of the event through Microsoft Teams enabled students from different locations to attend the event and benefit from it.

Internship Sharing Session 2.0

Internship Sharing Session 2.0 was conducted on 4^th February 2023. The 4-hour session had 4 seniors of UCSI University engineering students sharing their experience and work involved as an intern in their respective fields. It included a mix of electrical mechatronics and mechanical engineering students explaining the challenges and skills acquired during their duration in the industry. A small pizza party was also held at the cafeteria after the sharing.

ENGINEERING DESIGN AND DRAWING Project competition

An Engineering design and drawing project competition was held at UCSI University under the leadership of Ir.Idayu. The aim of the competition was to use recycled materials and to come out with a cat cage. Students are allowed to use AutoCAD software to design the cage. More than 10 teams participated in this event. Dr.M.K.A.Ahamed Khan was invited as the panel judge to evaluate the projects and to decide the winner. The winner was judged based on the design, presentation, stability of the cage and sustainability factors.

Later Dr. Mohamed khan briefed the audience of more than 30 students and Engineering staffs the vision, mission and the complete IEEE organization structure and its benefits. The event started at 8.00 am and ended at 9.30am.

Linux Workshop

The Linux Workshop was conducted on 18^th February 2023. The 4-hour session helped students to get a better understanding about Linux, GNU, and Open Source and taught some basic terminal commands and making bash scripts. It also helped them learn the idea of scripting along with examples and use-cases. The session also included quizzes to enhance interaction with participants along with prices for the quickest to finish them.

On 14^th March 2023, IEEE HKN Mu Alpha members along with a few of UCSI Engineering faculty professors and students went to Universiti Malaya’s High Voltage Laboratory. Participants received hands-on experience and got to see the facilities and equipment used in the Power Industry. The lab had a voltage source of 275 kilo volt. Students were explained about the safety measures and precautions taken while handling equipment in such a high voltage environment. Furthermore, a demonstration of all the equipment and circuitry was given. The students were also given the opportunity to conduct an experiment in the lab with the in charge. The site visit allowed the students to gain knowledge in the field of engineering and technology.

STEM Outreach Mechatronics Workshop

Secondary school students visited UCSI University for an educational trip. During this trip, IEEE HKN Mu Alpha students guided these students to build their own robots. The secondary school students were given motors and batteries to build their own robots to battle and survive in a ring. The robots must fit criteria to increase complexity.

Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL)

The Verilog HDL workshop is a virtual workshop conducted by IEEE HKN Mu Alpha chapter. This workshop is open to UCSI University engineering students who are interested in Verilog HDL. The speaker, a lecturer from UCSI University, explained the use of Quartus Software and performed Verilog coding. She then showed and explained details through her presentation slides and simulations. The participants were able to understand the applications and purposes of Verilog HDL and Digital Systems.
