Ruzairi Abdul Rahim

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at UTHM

Title: Design and Development of Ultrasonic Tomography For Liquid/Gas Column

Ruzairi Abdul Rahim graduated with honours degree in Electronic System & Control Engineering from Sheffield City Polytechnic, United Kingdom in 1992. In 1996, he received the Ph.D. degree from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom for a thesis title A tomographic imaging system for pneumatic conveyor using optical fibres. He began his career as a tutor at the Department of Control & Instrumentation Engineering in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 1992. He was made Associate Professor at UTM in 1999 and Professor in 2006. He was appointed as the Head of Department in 1 June 1998 for 8 years. In 2006, he was appointed as the Deputy Dean (Corporate) at Research Management Centre, UTM for about 3 years before appointed as the Director at the Research Management Centre in 2009. Now Professor Dr. Ruzairi has been appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & innovation) at UniversitiTun Hussein onn Malaysia (UTHM). He has written more than 17 original books, published more than 258 papers in refereed journals, produced more than 124 conference papers as well as numerous other writings including chapter in a books, articles in popular publications, manuscripts, and technical reports. Professor Ruzairi is a member of Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEEE) . He has received more than 35 academic and research awards, including Top Researcher Scientist Malaysia 2013 awarded by Academic Science Malaysia.


Usman Sarwar

Leader, IoT Technologies, Intel, Malaysia

 

Title: Elements of the Internet of Things

Usman Sarwar is a technologist and the software architect working on IoT connectivity technologies in Intel’s IoT group. He has fifteen years of R&D and software development experience. He has diverse technical background by working on areas related to IoT connectivity technologies and protocols, middleware protocol systems as well as voice & video over IP. He is working on IoT standardization within different alliances. Usman has also worked on various IoT applications such as smart industrial systems (industrie 4.0), smart cities and buildings. He has invented more than 22 patents, published 20 international papers and contributed to two ITU-T resolutions.


Sunder Natarajan

Founder & CEO, ASHVA Technologies, Chennai, India

Title: Entrepreneurship in Healthcare System

Sunder Natarajan has double Master’s degree where after obtaining MS in Mechanical Engineering from Govt. College of Engineering in 1984, he went on to graduate from University of Massachusetts, MA, USA with MS in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 with research on the use of ceramic materials on the Space Shuttles. He worked as a product specialist at General Electric, Pittsfield, MA, USA from 1988 to 992. Thereafter, he founded Connexions in 1994 and co-founded Manmar Technologies in 1996. In 2004, he founded ASHVA Technologies which focuses on cloud based solutions where it is one of the top radiology software companies in Asia with more than 3000 customers around the world.


S. Parasuraman

Leader, Robotics & Automation Research Cluster, University of Monash Malaysia

Title: Engineering in Medicine

Parasuraman graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Madras University in 1985 and subsequently secured his ME from Anna University in 1987 in Production Engineering. He has worked with SRM engineering College until 1993. He has started his career further with Industries in Malaysia as Research and Development Manager in Ken Hydraulics Sdn Bhd until 2000. He has done his PhD study at Monash University Australia and graduated in 2005 and continued his research and career with the same University until now. Dr. Parasuraman has Published 240 Publications includes, Journals, Books chapters and Proceedings. He has supervised 4 PhD students and another 3 in the pipeline. He is holding the professional membership with IEEE and also ex-Chairman of IEEE Robotics and Automation Malaysia Chapter.
